Preparing your RV for a Zombie Invasion!

Preparing your RV for a Zombie Invasion!

We’ve all seen at least one movie or tv show about flesh-eating zombies. While there have been no confirmed sightings of actual zombies, we've been through enough hurricanes, earthquakes, and natural disasters to know it’s important to prepare for possible emergency situations!

An RV is the perfect place to be in a zombie-like scenario. Having a home on wheels means you have everything you need in one place, with the ability to escape if zombies come knocking on your door.

With Halloween just around the corner, here are three tips to ensure you’re well prepared for a Zombie Invasion (or a real emergency) this spooky season!

PREPARE AN EMERGENCY KIT

Whether you are a full-time Nomad, weekend warrior, or occasional camper, it’s important to have an emergency kit in your RV if the zombies invade. This includes things such as water, food, and other supplies to get you and your family through the first couple of days before you can locate a zombie-free location.

Items to have in your kit:
Food and Water: 1 gallon of water per person per day, and non-perishable foods (canned food, rice, beans). Tip: Keep a few empty milk jugs to fill-up drinking water and be sure to stock up on a few of your favorite candy and treats!

Tools and First-Aid Supplies: Have a handy tool kit that includes a flashlight, utility knife, duct tape, rope, matches, battery-powered radio, etc. Also be sure to have a medical kit on-hand with prescription and non-prescription medications, Band-Aids, rubbing alcohol, sunscreen, etc.

Sanitation and Hygiene: Keeping yourself clean will help fight off things like the flu and the common cold, so make sure to have a few bars of soap and toothpaste! (Remember the great toilet paper shortage of 2020?)

Miscellaneous items such as gas cans, candles, solar hook-ups, BOOze, and a few games will also be sure to keep your zombie hideaway fun and on the move too! And if you have furry family members, don’t forget to include enough water, food, toys (and of course treats) for them, too.

PLAN YOUR ESCAPE + ZOMBIE SQUAD

When zombies are hungry, they won’t stop until they get food (i.e., brains), so make your emergency plan and select your group before the outbreak strikes. Locate a nearby boondocking location for sudden emergencies and plan to stop at a few favorite secluded destinations to hide so that the flesh eaters don’t have a chance.

Tips to picking your Zombie Invasion Team:
Stay in small to medium sized groups: 4-8 people is ideal in a zombie survival scenario. Being alone will leave you vulnerable and lonely.

Include a Full-Time Nomad (or two) on your invasion team. People living in an RV are great planners, flexible, resourceful, and adapt well to change. They also know great hidden and remote locations to avoid populated areas.
Pro Tip: If your RV isn’t solar ready, include a Nomad friend that has solar power connections!

Pick people you like and enjoy spending time with. Teamwork is essential in a zombie outbreak, but it’s also important to have fun and enjoy those around you. Make sure to include family and friends that make you laugh and brighten your day!

ENSURE YOU HAVE ENTERTAINMENT

Think of all the little things you enjoy and might take for granted, and make sure to have at least one of those things in your RV. Activities like board games, reading a book, playing with toys, and listening to music will brighten your mood and lift spirits in post-apocalyptic times!

And of course, you'll want to ensure you have reliable internet from Nomad to stream and download all your favorite movies and binge-worthy TV shows. Download a few zombie classics for research - just in case a zombie virus becomes more than just a Hollywood blockbuster idea!

This is definitely a fun article! Of course, zombie invasion is highly unlikely, but since it looks like a metaphor, it’s always better to be ready for any kinds of force majeure. In my opinion, the most important part of the article is about emergency kit. Indeed, one must have the most crucial things there, such as food and water supplies, medications and tools just in case. The second part is about people you might want to be with. Of course, anyone will want to have their most dearest ones close in case of unexpected turn of events such as an earthquake or a flood. I liked that you mentioned full time nomads – indeed, it would be amazing to use their knowledge and capabilities.

While the idea of a zombie invasion might seem like a far-fetched scenario, it never hurts to be prepared for the unexpected. However, preparing an RV for such an event requires a different approach compared to a traditional home or shelter. First and foremost, it’s important to have a well-stocked supply of food, water, and medical supplies, as well as a means of purifying water in case of a shortage. Additionally, fortifying the RV with reinforced windows, doors, and other security measures can provide a sense of safety and security. It’s also essential to have a reliable source of power, such as a generator or solar panels, in case of an extended power outage. Finally, having a plan for communication, transportation, and evacuation is crucial in the event of a zombie invasion or other emergencies. While the idea of a zombie invasion may seem like a joke, being prepared for any situation can bring peace of mind and help ensure survival.
