Breathtaking Places Every RVer Needs to Visit in the US

Are you looking for the best places to visit in the United States as an RVer? The US is full of beautiful sightseeing destinations. Deciding which places to visit is hard, so we’ve listed the ten most breathtaking places you need to visit in the US!

1. Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park is a huge, breathtaking national park in the United States. It’s located primarily in Wyoming, but does go into parts of Montana and Idaho. The National Park is open year-round, but not every entrance or part of the park is accessible in the wintertime for safety reasons.
Because Yellowstone is over 2.2 million acres of land, it can be hard to decide what exactly you want to visit (although we think every part of the park is beautiful). Some amazing views that Yellowstone offers include:

  • The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
  • North Rim Drive
  • Old Faithful
  • Mystic Falls
  • Abyss Pool

2. Watkins Glen State Park

This New York state park is definitely one of the best places to visit in the US. Watkins Glen State Park has all kinds of beautiful sights for you to see including waterfalls, a magnificent gorge, hiking areas, and camping.

The park is home to beautiful scenery, and isn’t as well-known as some of the other items on the list, which could make for a quieter experience. Watkins Glen is open year-round to visitors with some weather restrictions.

3. Deadwood, South Dakota

Nestled in the Black Hills, Deadwood is the perfect sight to see if you love history. Deadwood, South Dakota, was once home to multiple US outlaws and legends, such as Wild Bill Hickock, Calamity Jane, and even Seth Bullock.
Deadwood’s allure is in its preservation of history. Reenactments, historically preserved buildings, and museums are all available in Deadwood. Not only that, but the views are breathtaking as well. The Black Hills have some of the most beautiful natural sightseeing that the US has to offer!

4. Monument Valley

One of Arizona’s most beautiful sites to see is Monument Valley Tribal Park. This desert area is home to spectacular rock and sandstone formations, stretching high into the beautiful Arizona skyline. Visiting here at dusk or dawn will give you the chance to see some of the most colorful skies combined with majestic rock formations.

The park is typically open year-round, with a small visitor fee per vehicle. Due to COVID-19 the park is not currently open for visitors, although there are hopes to reopen soon!

5. Grand Teton National Park

Some of the most beautiful scenery, wildlife, and hiking that US sightseeing has to offer are in the Grand Tetons. This 310,000-acre park is located in the mountains of Wyoming, and is open 24-hours a day, year-round. Camping, hiking, driving, and sightseeing are all activities that the park offers.
Like Yellowstone, this national park is absolutely huge, and it can be difficult to decide where to visit on your RV trip. Some of the best spots to visit include:

  • Mormon Row
  • Jenny Lake
  • Laurance S. Rockefeller Preserve
  • Moose
  • Taggart Lake

6. Antelope Canyon

Another beautiful desert destination in Arizona, Antelope Canyon has some of the best experiences that the desert has to offer. The canyon formations are breathtaking, and are definitely an experience that you’ll never get somewhere else. The canyons are typically available year-round, but have the best views in late summer and early fall.

Currently, due to COVID-19, Antelope Canyon tours are not open to the public, although some of the sightseeing is still available via reservation in the area. You can still visit the desert area for some breathtaking views.

7. Great Smoky Mountain National Park

Diverse views, wildlife, and scenery is available to you in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. This park in Tennessee is home to some of the most beautiful driving and hiking trails in the United States. From Mountains, to forests, to bluffs, the Great Smoky Mountains has it all.

Some of the most stunning views in the Great Smoky Mountains include Rainbow Falls, the Chimney Tops, and Charlies Bunion. Many of these locations require long hikes, so you should consider parking your RV overnight at their campgrounds!

8. Big Bend National Park

Big Bend National Park, located in Texas, has some of the best scenic drives, hiking, and camping that you can find anywhere. Consider driving the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive to experience the desert landscape and the incredible Rio Grande. Or, hike the Window Trail for breathtaking rocky slopes and water formations.

Experiencing Big Bend National Park at its fullest is a long adventure. Spending more time in the National Park gives you the chance to drive to the backcountry, experience longer trails, and see the beautiful Texas night skies. If you give Big Bend a chance and stay for an extended time, consider visiting attractions such as:

  • The River Road
  • Lost Mine Trail
  • Rio Grande Village and Trail
  • Window Trail
  • Boquillas del Carmen

9. Helen, Georgia

For a site that seems completely impossible to visit in the United States, visit Helen, Georgia. Helen is a town dedicated to appearing just like it would in Bavaria. The attractions, architecture, and scenery all look straight out of a fairytale. Nestled right where the Alpines and Blue Ridge Mountains come together, when you visit Helen, you’ll never forget it.
