Important Customer Announcement: Fraud Prevention & Blacklisted Modems

Dear Valued Nomad Internet Customers,

At Nomad Internet, our mission has always been to provide reliable, high-quality internet to rural and underserved areas. As technology evolves, so do the challenges we face in ensuring the security and integrity of our service.

Recently, we uncovered a large-scale fraud operation in which unauthorized individuals exploited loopholes in our system to obtain Nomad modems without proper verification or payment. These modems were then resold on the black market, often at inflated prices, misleading customers into thinking they had purchased a legitimate device with service eligibility.

How This Affects You

To combat this fraud, we have drastically strengthened our security measures, including:

✅ Advanced fraud detection and identity verification systems

✅ Improved account authentication for all new activations

✅ Enhanced monitoring of modem usage and legitimacy

As part of this security upgrade, we have identified several thousand modems that were obtained fraudulently and blacklisted them across all carriers.

What It Means If Your Modem Is Blacklisted

If your modem has been blacklisted:

It will not work on ANY network, no matter how many times it is reset or reconfigured.

It cannot be reactivated, and service cannot be restored to it.

It may have been obtained through unauthorized resale, meaning the seller was not an approved Nomad Internet provider.

We understand that some legitimate customers may have unknowingly purchased one of these modems from unauthorized sellers. If this applies to you, we want to make it right and ensure you can access the service you need.

What You Can Do

If your modem has been blacklisted, you have two options:

  1. Verification & Review: If you believe your modem was blacklisted by mistake, contact our support team for a review. If an error was made, we will restore your service immediately or replace the modem.

  2. Modem Exchange Program: If your modem was blacklisted due to unauthorized resale or fraud, you can return it to us, and we will provide you with a free upgraded modem—ensuring you stay connected with a fully verified, supported device.

Why We’re Taking This Seriously

Fraudulent modem distribution doesn’t just impact Nomad Internet—it affects every customer in our network. Unauthorized devices:

🚨 Increase security risks by allowing unverified users onto the network

🚨 Drive up costs, forcing price adjustments for honest customers

🚨 Lead to service disruptions, degrading network performance

By blacklisting fraudulent modems, we are protecting our legitimate customers and ensuring the long-term stability of our service.

If your modem was purchased directly from Nomad Internet, you are NOT affected. This initiative only applies to modems acquired fraudulently or through unauthorized resale.

We are committed to providing a secure and seamless experience for all Nomad Internet customers. If you need assistance, please reach out—we are here to help.
